I run a mixed testing/unstable/experimental too and don't have such
problems.

> aptitude install -t experimental aptitude

Have you tried the development version in mercurial (hg clone
http://hg.debian.org/hg/aptitude/post-lenny aptitude-post-lenny) ? I
remember there were a couple of segfaults that were fixed right after
this experimental release (that is getting a little old).
