Package: aptitude
Version: 0.6.6-1
Severity: important
Dear Maintainer,
It seems that aptitude tend to forget quite often what is autoinstalled and autoinstalled packages are no longer marked as autoinstalled.
In one case I checked for a package that is parked as autoinstalled.
I was not running any other dpkg/apt-get/aptitude commands in other terminals in the meantim, except for "aptitude search",
which should only query the repository and not change it.
Basicaly what I've done is:
# aptitude show libimobiledevice2
....
Automatically installed: yes
....
# aptitude markauto libglib-perl libdevel-symdump-perl libcairo-perl
The following packages will be REMOVED:
libcairo-perl{u} libglib-perl{u}
0 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 2 to remove and 5 not upgraded.
Need to get 0 B of archives. After unpacking 1334 kB will be freed.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n/?]
(Reading database ... 391203 files and directories currently installed.)
Removing libcairo-perl ...
Removing libglib-perl ...
Processing triggers for man-db ...

Total disk space freed by localepurge: 0 KiB
# aptitude show libimobiledevice2
....
Automatically installed: no
....
Then libimobiledevice2 is no longer autoinstalled.
Similar things happend quite often, ultimately leading to leaving lots of obsolete unused stuff on my system as it gets upgraded,
which I have to manually remove.
