Nope. The GUI has just been dropped with 0.6.6-1. But aptitude has a
TUI which apt doesn't have. aptitude has a interactive dependency
solver which apt doesn't have.

Why? Both serve its own target group. There are people who prefer
aptitude over apt and vice versa.

They don't do. apt is the core library (with its own CLI interface)
around which aptitude builds a TUI and an interactive solver.
