[Aptitude-devel] Yet another case of losing the mark-auto state with new tiff3 packages

Hi,

not sure if I should file a separate bug for this (nor to which bug
report it would beong to):

I ran into one of these not-marked-auto cases today, too. The
remarkable thing was it happened on three machines (and three
different architectures (amd64, kfreebsd-i386 and powerpc), always with
the same package:

On all three machines the new tiff3 packages pulled in libjpeg-dev and
libjbig0. While libjpeg-dev was marked as automatically installed,
libjbig0 was not marked as automatically installed.

I've created state bundles on all three machines before changing that
state. See
http://noone.org/debian/Bug-Reports/aptitude-not-marked-auto/

On amd64 aptitude-create-state-bundle also threw this error message:
tar: .//var/cache/apt/*.bin: Cannot stat: No such file or directory

There were just temporary left-over .bin files in there:

# ls -l /var/cache/apt/
total 138444
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Dec 28 22:34 apt-file
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 73728 Apr 15 23:44 archives
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 25165824 Mar 14 04:02 pkgcache.bin.07E5Ug
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 26214400 Feb 9 14:04 pkgcache.bin.0ozOsE
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 30408704 Dec 23 21:57 pkgcache.bin.2wDxQG
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 26214400 Feb 9 14:04 pkgcache.bin.aAJo6x
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 25165824 Mar 6 01:16 pkgcache.bin.GJPQFg
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 26214400 Feb 9 14:05 pkgcache.bin.gUZv1G
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 25165824 Jan 14 01:11 pkgcache.bin.Q1zPrQ

P.S.: If it's not an issue, I'd suggest to move from bzip2 to xz for
state bundles as xz has a higher priority as bzip2 (just optional
IIRC), compresses faster and better (but needs more RAM to do so).

		Regards, Axel
