It is apt-xapian-index that has the offending cron job, not
python-xapian.  The later is just a python interface to libxapian22
and is very much idle when installed by itself.

Anyway, in the next release we will be downgrading apt-xapian-index to
Suggests, since aptitude makes very little use of it.

We already have many notes about various things and still receive
questions and bug reports that are answered by those notes.  People
tend to miss a sizable subset of relevant notes.  Passing.
