Did you CC the submitter with your response to that one? By default
submitters do not receive messages sent to nnn at bugs.debian.org [1].

Lots of issues are reported concerning exit status or error handling
in general [2]. As the merged reports indicate, this one is not
really fixed.
I have WIP that seeks to address most of those issues with exit codes
and other command-line concerns by restructuring the jump(s) from
`main' to `cmdline_*'. This is a larger amount of work than just
fixing, e.g., exit codes in individual functions, but is resulting in
a more clear flow of control and saner, more general error handling.
Should be completed during my next block of free time.
