.nodnod, though as you pointed out, the switch to a lazy tags load is a
trivial one. it's moot, as the patch in and of itself would be meaningless,
and a serious optimization effort would work against the goals you just
enumerated.

of your way. should anything particularly interesting happen, i'll let y'all
know, and we can discuss the plausibility of merging it.
