Hi,

I could not reproduce this in occasions in which restart of services failed.

I've been reviewing the init script of apache2, and it went throught a
lot of turmoil during the time that this bug was reported, including
moving around the text mentioned in the error.

There's no indication about which version you were using, so it's
difficult to investigate more and try to pinpoint the problem, if it
was with apache2's script. There doesn't seems bugs, archived or
unarchived, complaining about this in the apache2 package (searching
for "failed", "color", "colour").

So basically I think that the bug is not with aptitude, but with other
programs that can make a mess in the terminal. There are other ways
in which programs can mess up.

I am not sure if it's sensible to try to reset the terminal every time
that aptitude goes "into" and "out of" curses mode to try to prevent
this problem even when programs misbehave and make a mess in the
terminal. I never observed this, or perceived this as a problem; and
I don't know if there will be drawbacks doing this, or even if it's
possible to cover these cases properly and if the countermeasures will
work in all cases.

Do you have more information about this, or saw it happening again?

Cheers and thanks for your bug report.
