[Aptitude-devel] Bug#740750: aptitude: Regression: Cannot mark specific version for installation unless dependencies are satisfied

Package: aptitude
Version: 0.6.10-2
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
previously, I was able to do the following in aptitude:
1) Hit [Enter] on a package I wanted.
2) Scroll down, pick the version I want, hit [+].
3) Sort out the broken dependencies of that version, if needed.
4) Be happy.
Now, at step 2), aptitude will only mark the default version of the
package (not the chosen one) for installation if that version will have
broken dependencies after installation. Conversely, installing a chosen
version of a package will only work if I go in ahead of time and make
sure all dependencies of that version are satisfied. Arguably, that's
less convenient than the previous state, so I'd like to have that back,
if possible.
Thanks!
Andreas
