I could not test with those packages/versions, but I can test in a
similar scenario and I couldn't reproduce it (even if the package
explicitly depends on "gawk"), so I am guessing that it was fixing in
the intervening years, probably in the run up to aptitude 0.6.
(in curses)
1) removing gawk
2) podget depends on "gawk (>= 4.0.0) | mawk (>= 1.3.0)"
3) installing podget doesn't pull in gawk, it is happy with mawk
If you can still see this issue, could you please provide a reproducible
case?
