I am reviewing old bug reports from aptitude, and I am not sure about
what to do with this.  I think that some of these problems might still
happen, but the aptitude resolver implementation changed a lot since
then, specially in 2009-2010, and we don't even have the input from
Daniel Burrows in this bug report to try to get some insight about what
happened here.

Do you still use aptitude to ugprade systems from old stable to new
stable versions, and did you see this happening again in later versions,
esp. with the xserver-xorg-video* packages?
