aptitude doesn't run automatically.

Maybe it is run by other programs installed in the system, like
unattended-upgrades, cron-apt or apticron?

This will tell you about installed packages in your system that depend
on apt or aptitude, that might be causing this:

  aptitude search '~i~D(^aptitude$|^apt$)'
