That's a known last-minute upstream glitch and not present (aka
patched) in the package uploaded to Debian Unstable as 0.8.5-1.

This also means that you seem to build aptitude from the master
branch. Please try the debian-sid branch which includes the above
mentioned fix. The fix is automatically applied if building with
"dpkg-buildpackage" or can be applied with "env
QUILT_PATCHES=debian/patches quilt push -a" manually.
