Yep, the feature above was implemented due to the bigger problem that
aptitude was not installing essential packages of newer releases
automatically.

I'm not willing to rework the code now to behave in the old way or to
consider the case originating from this bug report -- so closing as
+wontfix.


(Perhaps pinning can help with this case if it's annoying enough, it's
the only solution that comes from the top of my head).
