[Aptitude-devel] Bug#892002: aptitude: UI to list files of packages

Package: aptitude
Version: 0.8.10-6
Severity: wishlist

It would be nice to be able to list the files of packages
directly in the aptitude UI from the package info view.

For installed packages it could use the following commands.
The latter could be used to annotate files as conffiles.

dpkg-query --listfiles aptitude
dpkg-query --show --showformat '${Conffiles}\n' aptitude

If apt-file is installed it could use the output from
this command for packages that are not yet installed:

apt-file list aptitude

If apt-file is not installed it could add lines to the files list
that, when the user presses enter on them, will:

 * install apt-file if it is not installed
 * do an `apt update` when apt-file is installed but Contents files are
   not downloaded.
