[Aptitude-devel] Bug#920962: aptitude: couldn't install both gcc-8-base:i386 and :amd64

Dear Maintainer,

I was installing a clean (buster) system from amd64 archive, but also
wanted to install wine32. However, this package only exists in i386 so I
added the architecture and selected wine32 in aptitude. However, it
didn't allow me to continue and the resolver couldn't find any
resolution. Upon investigation, the situation was like this:

 - the conflict was around gcc-8-base
 - gcc-8-base:amd64 was out of date and needed to be upgraded
 - gcc-8-base breaks gcc-8-base of any other version
 - this constraint was making the resolver unhappy, and even upgrading
   gcc-8-base:amd64 to the same version as newly installed
   gcc-8-base:i386 didn't flag this dependency as satisfied (ie. there
   was still conflict)

Installing the package with "apt install wine32" wen't without any
problems.
