[Aptitude-devel] Bug#962951: aptitude: missing command 'status'

I would like to have a command 'aptitude status' which shows the last line displayed by 'aptitude -v update':

Current status: 0 (+0) broken, 0 (+0) upgradable, 0 (+0) new.

without having to actually check for an update.
This command should be available for non root users.
