Package: aptitude
Version: 0.8.12-3
Followup-For: Bug #373846

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Some unknown sequence of packages slowly being installed and perhaps
getting broken over time? It only showed up when I started trying to
install libpcl-dev:i386, but now aptitude is stuck trying to resolve
dependencies. Nothing I can do seems to be able to stop it; that is, if
I kill aptitude and start it again, it just starts over trying to
resolve dependencies. If I try to use the "Cancel pending actions",
aptitude dies with a segfault (I will open a separate bug for this
specific behavior).

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?

Nothing was effective. Killing and restarting aptitude had no effect.
"Cancel pending actions" led to a SIGSEGV and also had no positive
effect.

Based on the advice of closed bug #665794, I have used
aptitude-create-state-bundle; the file is 168 MB. Kindly suggest where
to upload it.

Many thanks.
