I'm not sure how well that would work; I'm afraid that we'd confuse
the bridge by running on the underlying interfaces.

The simple work-around is to simply run the wireless algorithm on
bridge interfaces, as that will work in all cases.  Of course, it will
generate somewhat more traffic on your Ethernets, but since it's still
just one packet every 6 seconds (as opposed to one packet every 30
seconds with the wired algorithm), it should remain bearable.
