I've now fixed a couple of bugs that had escaped my review of the
code, and it has been running for a few hours without obvious issues.
If you have a look at BabelWeb,

  http://babelweb.wifi.pps.univ-paris-diderot.fr/

choose the node "ariane" and look at the neighbours table -- nodes
ariane, pi and matthieu are running the new code.
