Hi,

As some of you are aware, the IETF Homenet working group [1] is currently
trying to decide on a routing protocol for Homenet routers. The current
contenders are Matthieu's source-specific branch of Babel and an
autoconfiguring, source-specific variant of IS-IS.

It would be good if there were a source-specific version of OSPF to
compare against, but unfortunately the likelihood of having a working
implementation before the Dallas IETF in March is pretty low.

Margaret Wasserman, Christian Hopps and myself have done some work to
document the differences between Babel and the source-specific variant of
IS-IS [2]. The document is far from perfect, but I think it can serve as
a useful basis for dicussion.

Discussion of this document will happen on the Homenet mailing list [3] in
the next days. Please do not send your comments before the document is
officially announced there (which should happen today or tomorrow).

I'll be sending my own comments there in the next days.

Happy reading,
