This is what I actually had in mind. However, I haven't found a clean 
way to detect this (or ask the kernel), and my current way of doing it — 
which seems to work, but was only very lightly tested — is to install 
and retract immediately a v4-over-v6 route. If you know of some other 
way I'd gladly hear it!
