[Debconf-devel] Bug#404450: debconf: configuring X from console
makes the screen go blank
Kamaraju Kusumanchi
kamaraju at gmail.com
Mon Dec 25 02:26:26 CET 2006
Package: debconf
Version: 1.5.8
Severity: normal
On Dell Inspiron 6400/E1505 running Etch, when X is configured by
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
from the console, the monitor goes blank when it tries to automatically
detect the monitor settings. The process goes fine till it displays the
screen where it asks
"Attempt monitor autodetection?"
If I answer yes to that then the screen goes blank. The keyboard is
responsive (caps lock works, ctrl-alt-del reboots the computer etc.,)
even after this.
The problem occurs only when I configure X from the console. If I
configure X, from inside a KDE session then it works fine.
output of
lshw > harware.txt
and
xorg.conf
are attached in this email. Please let me know if more info is needed.
thanks
