[Debconf-devel] Bug#427062: debconf: dpkg-reconfigure: should set package to "failed-config" if postinst fails

Package: debconf
Version: 1.5.11
Severity: normal
If for some reason the postinst script run by "dpkg-reconfigure $pkg"
fails, this means that the configuration is screwed, and probably the
package is not fully usable. I think it would be a good idea if
dpkg-reconfigure would set $pkg to failed-config in this case.
I'm not sure whether dpkg provides a possibility for this, therefore the
dpkg team gets a Cc of this report.
Regards, Frank
