Package: debconf
Version: 1.5.44
Severity: normal

Hi,

I tried to install wheezy with current netboot installer image and
preseeding.

This failed because debconf-apt-progress could not launch aptitude
(cf. #681347). This bug report is related to that issue.

When debconf-apt-progress failed to run aptitude, it seems
debconf-apt-progress did not exit (with an error or otherwise).

Therefore d-i just got stuck at 1% of "Select and install software".

See [0] for the d-i screen, and [1] for the syslog (modulo kernel log).
Note how the latter shows two "Use of uninitialized variable" after the
aptitude failure, when it maybe should have exited instead.

Also see [2] for ps output that shows the processes still exist. And in
case it's relevant, [3] is also my preseed file.
