Sorry, Ive been pretty disconnected from this stuff. I had to look up
everything again
I just did a sync and uploaded it to our repo. I think your subtitle is in
there too now (in our repo, not in the ftp im afraid) :)
In our repo, the main script is amara.py. It does a bunch of stuff and
mostly sync whats on amara with whats on our repo. Its done locally on your
machine. After downloading, one have to do a commit to push the new subs to
our repo
scripts/2016/amara.py
# Sync subtitles from amara into a local folder (SUBS_FOLDER)
# Replaces old versions of subtitles if found
#
# Sanity checks done by this script:
# - Check that every video has a project. If it doesnt, it tries to assign
one to them
# - Check local paths and craeted them
#
# This contain funtions able to rename projects in a sane way (ie. creating
a new project
# and moving videos to it. Amara cant just rename a project)
#
# WIP: upload local subtitles to amara
The other important script is sync_subtitles.sh. I created this to ease the
sync. The structure of the subs folders have changed and this fixes it. Now
that I think about this, I suspect this is why the person with the power
didnt want to run the script, but I was never told so directly, so I dont
know. The only reason I believe this, its because at a later time, somebody
broke my amara script because they changed the video "unspoken name
convention" they were using so far and they very strongly refused to change
the name of the video. So maybe, thats the reason, but again, I was never
told so
Feel free to modify the script and the folders and whatever the video team
wants you to change
Thats it, if you get out something at all out of them :)
I think they much rather lose somebody doing work than to break some old
links that I bet nobody is using, or even add some ln -s
scripts/2016/sync_subtitles.sh
# Sync subtitles from debconfsubs git to meetings-archive
#
# This script was desgined to be run in meetings-archive server
# to update the subtitles folder publicly available on meetings-archive
#
# GOTCHA: this script only sync deleting on dest folders content (ie. .srt)
# If events/years folders change names, this wont touch them
If you ask me, amara is the official home of the debconf subs now. They are
public and easy to download; and to use in the videos while streaming. And
the ones on the ftp are old. Just get them removed and add a link to amara
in the ftp so people dont use them is the next move that makes sense to me
and doenst involve and huge amount of work :)
You can probably find info on the wiki on how to download these files

Cheers and good luck
