Just commit it to the git repo. That is the reason we have team
maintenance :-)

No idea about this. Anyway, it may be useful. You also could open an
astropy issue asking for some non-remote tests.

I am not sure if this works. As far as I understand, backports must be
in "testing", which is not the case for pytest-mpl yet.
