It depends on how deep you want to dig in. To just submit a patch, the
easiest was is to open a bug for astroquery and attach the patch to
it. Then the astroquery maintainer (Vincent Prat) will take that and
discuss with you.

If you want to contribute more, you should use the Debian repository on
anonscm. To get involved there, sign up on alioth.debian.org and join
the "Debian-Astro" project. You should also contact Vincent
<vinceprat at free.fr> to organize the work.

Keep in mind, that we store the patches separately from the upstream
source in the debian/patches subdirectory.

BTW, our regular discussion list is debian-astro at lists.debian.org
<https://lists.debian.org/debian-astro>; the -maintainers list is mainly
filled with automated mails from bug reports and such.
