Looks like I failed to actually attach that debdiff - here it is.

While getting the development branch to work with GTK3 is obviously
desirable for the longer term, for the purposes of this transition what
matters is the currently packaged version, and as I said above that
doesn't seem to exhibit the problem you're hitting with the development
version.
