Hi,
there are some valid concerns about the name of the package, brought up
by conda-forge:
https://github.com/conda-forge/staged-recipes/pull/8764
A discussion on upstream's github didn't lead to a name change of the
upstream package:
https://github.com/astromatic/sextractor/issues/8
however this issue came up on a fork (by mistake):
https://github.com/astrorama/sextractorxx/issues/136
and found now some attention on twitter:
https://twitter.com/Sydonahi/status/1178829309168898053
I personally completely agree that the name is offending and should be
changed. This should however happen in a coordinated way -- including
conda-forge and Fedora (and ideally upstream as well). I made a comment
on the conda-forge PR #8764.
This issue is to have a discussion on Debian side about the topic.
Note that we already renamed the executable name from "sex" to
"sextractor", which is something upstream would also agree. The issue is
to rename sextractor to source-extractor (or similar).
Best regards
Ole
