First thing: please provide a download link for the /debian folder you  
use when building the package. You said earlier, that you have such a  
folder maintained upstream.

Then:

Recend Debian packages use source format 3.0 (quilt), that means we  
have to provide an orig.tar.<comp> file with the package. The neatest  
tool for that is git-buildpackage (a wrapper around dpkg-buildpackage).

The goal is to get the source tree on git.debian.org/git/collab-maint  
build with ,,git-buildpackage -uc -us''.

$ git clone git://git.debian.org/collab-maint/kiwix.git
$ git-buildpackage -uc -us

This currently does not work as the upstream tarball contains build cruft...

Please remove the above named files from upstream SVN. If a Debian  
maintainer would not be in contact with upstream (or upstream would  
have a high latency) then we could fiddle around that in the package,  
but I prefer a clean upstream tarball.

Please provide _your_ /debian folder (not with the upstream tarball,  
please, but as a download location).
