kiwix: configure failure due to build w/o src/dependencies (was Re: IRC ?)

Next thing: we build kiwix without src/depedencies. This is intended  
and we are thankful that you provide tarballs that have this folder  
already stripped out.

However, the configure.ac leads to a config.status file that wants to  
work on src/dependencies.

Any ideas?
