OK, it's fixed in 
http://download.kiwix.org/src/nightly/2012-06-07/kiwix-20120607_r3622.tar.gz

When I try to build, I get this:

rmdir: failed to remove `debian/kiwix/usr/local/lib/kiwix/components': 
Directory not empty
dh_usrlocal: rmdir debian/kiwix/usr/local/lib/kiwix/components returned 
exit code 1
make: *** [binary] Error 1
dpkg-buildpackage: error: fakeroot debian/rules binary gave error exit 
status 2

It happens at the very end (I believe), after the compilation and the 
make install.
It seems the last step is dh_usrlocal (inside dh_install).
