While I don't personally agree with that approach, it is certainly
reasonable that the "FOSS coders" have a conference dedicated to
themselves.

For example, there are specialised conferences in Mathematics to which
we do not invite speakers who have not actually done new research (ie
no new code). People who make existing research easier to read for
others in various ways (aka packagers) are not generally invited to
speak.

So there seems to be no scope for a Debian talk since most of the
work of local DD's is on translation and packaging --- AFAIK.

However, there seems to be scope for a Bug Squashing Party (if lenny is
not already released by then!) in the middle of the day. Let us see
if we can organise that. There are a few other Debian related ideas
that I may write about a little later.

Moreover, I would like to hear talk by people who are currently
writing "real new code" from India. For example, in 2006 there was a
talk by someone from IBM India who was working on ext4. For such talks
I would be interested in making the trip.
