-beng-assamese seems more appropriate to me (less cryptic), so the
other package will be -beng-bengali.

Still, upstream has indeed strange choices : creating a font for a
*language* while a font is more related to a *script* is something
really strange (and, from what I read in this thread, the same
happened for Kashmiri, with a "Kashmiri" font while the language is
indeed usually written in Devanagari).
