After the update the directory still exists and in addition to it a .dpkg-new file:

/etc/fonts/conf.avail/65-0-fonts-gujr-extra.conf/65-0-fonts-gujr-extra.conf
/etc/fonts/conf.avail/65-0-fonts-gujr-extra.conf.dpkg-new
