[Debian-l10n-devel] Browsing diffs of translations

Hi

Currently DDTSS shows diff between current version of translation and previous
versions. In log there is timestamp, author and symbol of changes (what have
been changed: short desc., long desc., minor changes). It would be great, if
DDTSS would provide some mean to browse diff between any version of translation
and previous version. Or maybe even diff between any two versions of
translations (just like MediaWiki does)?

Simple case:
There are three users, name them user1, user2 and user3.
User1 fetches description and provides initial translation.
User2 makes some changes to long description.
User3 makes one change to long description, say corrects some spelling
mistake.
User1 tries to review translation. He only sees diff between current version
(provided by user3) and previous one (provided by user2). He has no mean to
check diff between his (user1) initial translation and changes made by user2.

In many cases (especially for packages with long long description) it is much
more convenient to just check diff, especially if you had reviewed translation
some time before. On diff you see only changes made and you accept only them;
it is logical, that if accepted some sentences in translation before, you will
do so again. You want to keep focus only in these parts that were changed.

I think that this is right place for discussion if this is a nice idea to
improve DDTSS or not.
