Note that the machines' dhcp configuration is not in LDAP.  I think
flat files are easier to handle and there is no need to access that
data over the network - there is only one DHCP server (if the
information is needed in a subnet, this could be done by dhcp
forwarding).

No, so far it is created from scratch.  However, it shouldn't be a
problem to implement the debian-edu LDAP tree.  I am thinking about
providing GOsa for user management, but nothing has been done so far.
