I guess there are not many people (if any) around that test the
package, so preparing an upload to experimental makes probably not
much sense.

I just applied your patch to an 'experimental' branch.  I'll test the
modifications as soon as possible, and after that we might want to
merge it into master.  We have to keep in mind that we provide a
working setup before the freeze, because we might not be allowed to
modify much after the start of the freeze.

The problem with debian-lan is always that it depends on many other
packages.  To thoroughly test, we need all bugs fixed in all these
packages first.
