I now realize that the main problem maybe is in the device /dev/usb/legousbtower0, which is created
when plugging in the IR-tower.

But I assume that it used to word, 15 years ago, so what is changed?

Further the package brickos with command firmdl3 works just fine, so I assume that the hardware is ok.
