Matthew,

The bug was open by Matthias Klose as a mass bug report filing when
trying to build the Debian archive with LTO.

The problem is well understood, it could be fixed by disabling LTO for
binutils, or fixing autoconf.

Binutils is not the only package using autoconf, that the reason of my
question. As there is an effort to build Debian with LTO, I would like
to know whether someone have seen the same problem while building
another package and if a general solution as been found.
