Bugs saying "new version available" should usually be set to severity
wishlist rather than normal except they are fixing really urgent problems.

BTW, I've got a private mail from an Ubuntu developer with a different
patch.  Could you please verify this before I sponsor your package or
perhaps you even consider directly upgrading to the latest version?

Just tell me what you consider the best solution for package upload.
