Is there any reason that you report this problem to Debian when working
with Ubuntu? It might be that the wrapper script might need some
adaptations and I'd be happy to include these into the Debian script
if it works here. But it is hard for me to fix the wrapper for Ubuntu
if I have no access to such a machine.

I consider reducing severity to wishlist and add "can not reproduce"
tag except there is some evidence that the problem also exists on a
pure Debian machine.

These dependencies are *not* needed under Debian (just purged these to
verify). So most probably this is not true for Debian and there is no
evidence that this problem exists in Debian.
