Hi Charles,

I tried to help on #627861 but when I tried git-buildpackage I've got:

...
   dh_clean
gbp:error: You have uncommitted changes in your source tree:
gbp:error: # On branch master
# Your branch is ahead of 'origin/master' by 1 commit.
#
# Changes not staged for commit:
# (use "git add/rm <file>..." to update what will be committed)
# (use "git checkout -- <file>..." to discard changes in working directory)
#
# deleted: libs/kdb/libkdb.vers.h
# deleted: libs/kdb/libwkdb.vers.h
# deleted: libs/klib/libklib.vers.h
# deleted: libs/search/libksrch.vers.h
# deleted: libs/sra/libsradb.vers.h
...
# deleted: tools/vdb-copy/vdb-copy.vers.h
# deleted: tools/vdb-dump/vdb-dump.vers.h
#
no changes added to commit (use "git add" and/or "git commit -a")

gbp:error: Use --git-ignore-new to ignore.

I also tried to checkout pristine tarball and got

$ pristine-tar checkout tarball
fatal: Path 'tarball.delta' does not exist in 'refs/remotes/origin/pristine-tar'
pristine-tar: git show refs/remotes/origin/pristine-tar:tarball.delta failed

It seems your git repository is not yet idiot proof and I failed
again in having a positive git-buildpackage exprience. :-(

In any case I commited a patch which hopefully helps in fixing #627861.
Please consider testing it or give some advise how I could work around
my problems to build the package.

Kind regards

        Andreas.
