I can't reproduce it locally (don't have Ubuntu with GCC-4.7 yet), but after reading the porting guide, I'm guessing this error stems from re-organization done in GCC-4.7 which removed "unistd.h" from some header files.

I've created a new tarball which explicitly includes "unistd.h" in the relevant CPP files - may I ask you to test it ?
