OK, done, have at it! :-)


Here is why I won't spend any time on this issue:

1. The ITK wrappers need attention: they currently don't build.

2. ITK 4.0 is already out and needs attention.

3. Libraries embedded in ITK that do *not* offer a ITK_USE_SYSTEM_foo
build time option are, at the very least, untested with other
versions.  They may be heavily patched and the risk of breaking ITK
outweighs any purported benefit, IMHO.  I cannot believe that a
library embedded in ITK is ever going to be a security problem.


If you are really concerned about embedded library copies, I'd
encourage you to work on the issue in the context of ITK 4.
