[Debian-med-packaging] Bug#701802: Please enable ICONV support

Package: dcmtk
Severity: wishlist

Dear maintainer,

The current debian package does not include internationalization
support. For this, it needs to be compiled against libiconv. In
Debian, we do not ship seperate libiconv/libcharset libraries, because
our glibc does already provide this. Unfortunately, the upstream build
system does not seem to support this configuration and requires the
use of an external libiconv.

Since iconv support is critical for my customer project, I have
changed the package to compile statically against a libiconv tarball
that I include with the source package. I'm not really satisfied with
this solution. Nevertheless until a better solution is found in
Debian, I would like to share my workaround with you.

Please see the attached rules files.

Cheers,
Reinhard
