Hello,

I just uploaded the latest version of MAFFT to Debian and would like to
make you aware about some patches we introduced as well as some issues
that recently were reported as a result of some automatic test.

The patch at

   http://anonscm.debian.org/viewvc/debian-med/trunk/packages/mafft/trunk/debian/patches/hardening.patch?view=markup

is basically harmless for your build unless an LDFLAGS variable is set.
In Debian this is per default the case ot enable hardening options[1].

Please feel free to apply the patch to your upstream code at your
preference. Hope this helps to enhance your code.

There are five issues reported by the Mayhem security test suite and
you can get an overview about all these here:

   http://bugs.debian.org/src:mafft

Please note: It is not really sure whether these are real issues of
just false positives. In any case it would be nice if you could
report back about these three reports.

Kind regards an thanks for providing MAFFT as Free Software

  Andreas.
