Hi again,

should you have some energy left - I had experimented when the feature was still new with link-time optimisation. 
Some remnants are still commented out in debian/rules. The speedup is considerable - about 10 to 15 percent,
so I had benchmarked at the time.

Back then I had decided against it all, but today, a couple of compiler generations later, I suggest to think
about it - for autodock and many other compute-intensive packages. Any opinions or deeper insights anyone?
