not saying this is expected, but that's a new upstream release for
matplotlib, things have changed, so i think it's safe to say that
warning message has been added with 2.2.3.

talk with your upstream; from the test error, it looks like they are
expecting no output on stdout, which is usually not a good idea to
check (as warnings are just that, warnings, not something that should
make anything fail).
